How are they much different from rest of subcon. Maharashtra for example got conquered by mauryans, andhra satvahanas, scythians, bahamani sultanate. Gujarat, rajasthan, maharashtra were ruled by scythians. Kushans ruled kashmir and gangetic plains as well not just punjab.
