speaking against the UGC act is political suicide. the act is meant to secure the interests of OBCs. OBCs, by themselves, constitute at least 52 per cents of india.
the electoral consequences of shilling against them are potentially catastrophic. that's why no one wants to talk about it.

BJP wants to secure its ties with the OBCs. truth be told, OBCs have emerged as the single, most-loyal voting block for the new BJP leadership. it's not the UCs who get the BJP to form the majority anymore. it's the OBCs. nothing happens without their approval.
so, bringing this law into play is necessary signalling for the central government.

it's not true. hathras, supreme court judgements against (indian)-based reservations, bheem-meem, bheem army, kurki-metei dispute, hindu (auto-excised) lynchings in west bengal, etc. have all happened under the BJP.
yadavs would've never voted for the BJP in UP-Bihar because they have their own patriarch in SP (mulayam before and akhilesh now) so, there was no point appeasing them.
i don't have answer for odisha. it's just a region that i neglect from my study, mostly. it's probably BJP's first-term there or something, and BJP is trying to cement its initial voting block there (meaning that i think STs voted BJP into power in odisha).
believe it or not, UCs + SC/STs + Muslims, etc. don't have as much leverage or control over indian politics as OBCs do. the latter are the ones who really rule the roost. all of this UC (auto-excised)-rona will never be relevant as long as UC demographics stay below 10 per cents.
