this is simply the result of falling ₹ and increasing restrictions, many countries like canada and australia have put india into most abusive list when it comes to student visas, back in late 90s and 2000s it was still possible to make it big in US after BTech from IIT/NIT/BITS, it costed no more than 30-40 lakh, and the software industry was booming, post 2007-08 the economic opportunities were already in decline, however the popularity of going abroad for masters kept growing, leading to all sorts of issues which have finally materialised into visa restrictions, you had literal retards flooding US, taking admission into degree mill scam colleges, and then working min wage jobs to pay for their loans, during late 2010s cases of guys having to return back jobless with debt started to increase, covid was the final nail in the coffin.

many guys do not know that even if you get a masters done in US, chances of getting a job are rare nowadays, it is very hard, reason being most companies preferring citizens and residents, hip startups would not fund your H1B, it is like a lottery anyway, and most of the quota goes towards imported workers not to the students.

and the whole masters in US itself is a meme, these degrees were literally invented to loot foreign "students", the actual students with great academic record actually get selected into academic programs and go there on scholarship.
